The WAPDA workers union, the largest organized force in Pakistan is have a referendum in two days. The comrades of the PTUDC are intervening in the referendum with a revolutionary programme. Here we provide our readers with the English translation of their main leaflet. WAPDA  - Water & Power Distribution Authority – is a key department in Pakistan, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of Power in whole country.

War against the privatisation of WAPDA (Water And Power Development Authority) Pakistan After the PTCL workforce, now it is the workers of WAPDA who are faced with the prospect of privatisation. Such a measure would be detrimental to the interests not only of the WAPDA workers but of all the workers and poor of Pakistan. The regime in Pakistan is indeed a callous one. Not only did it show little concern for the hundreds of thousands hit by the quake in Kashmir and Northern Pakistan, now it wants to exploit this moment of bewilderment among the masses to speed up the process of privatization, starting with the Karachi Steel Mills. The Pakistan Trade Union Defense Campaign executive body met in Lahore on Sunday November 17 in Lahore. The executive unanimously elected Comrade Manzoor Ahmed [Member National Assembly of Pakistan and editor fortnightly magazine Class Struggle] as the president of PTUDC. The slate of other office bearers was voted upon and elected with a majority.
